28 August 2018 Recently on 18 August, the Viennese start-up 'Jedermann' launched its online shop on jedermann-watches.com - the only distribution channel of the brand. The name of the brand may remind many Austrians at first of the prominent play 'Jedermann' by Hugo von Hofmannsthal which is about life and death. Well, the theatre play's theme seems to be a perfect choice for the name of a watch label as it counts how the time of life is filled with actions. Despite mentioning the play by Hofmannsthal on its website, the label goes into distance to this origin. Even with the names of various leather straps, 'Jedermann' provides a play with the cultural knowledge of users - without becoming concrete. There is for example Herbert Jedermann who sets the rhythm (conductor Herbert von Karajan?), or Richard Jedermann who loves ostrich (composer Richard Strauss - Strauss means ostrich),... The unisex watches are presented also with straps carrying names inspired by legendary women such as Hedy Lamarr or Bertha von Suttner. fig. right: The unisex design (available in two sizes with black or white dial) was developed from the idea to wear Jedermann watches at any occasions - at horse riding and in the stable in combination with leisure wear or at the theatre with evening gown.
