H&M presents trachten inspired by Oktoberfest visitors

Traditional clothing (trachten) of the Central European Alps of Germany, Austria, South Tyrol is since hundreds of years a 'work in progress' developed in the beginning as distinctive designs by and for people from specific mountain regions. It's even for professional designers and couturiers a challenge to apply a signature style on traditional items which were originally derived by a community. The traditional dress, called Dirndl, and the leather pants of men, in German named Lederhosen, got now new interpretations by the H&M design team for the upcoming Oktoberfest which starts for example in Munich, where the festival originates from (oktoberfest.de), this year on 21 September, or in Vienna, the city names it Wiener Wiesn’ Fest, on 26 September.

The Oktoberfest outfits by H&M will be available from tomorrow, 22 August. They can't beat original trachten or trachten couture which are in many cases customized or completely tailor-made. The H&M Oktoberfest collection for women and men is an affordable fashion tribute to Central European tradition. The design team derived its inspirations from international Oktoberfest visitors who combine classical trachten items with sneakers or jeans jackets.

Women can also choose trachten shorts with matching checked blouse. Right beside on view, the men's Lederhosen made of fake leather in combination with checked blue-white long-sleeve collar shirt. The range for men consists of various shirts, a knit cardigan, a vest, socks and a hat.
