On the 25 May 2000 the Essl Collection will open the project >emerging artists< with works by the Austrian artist Katrin Plavcak.

With the project series >emerging artists<, the Essl Collection embraces a variety of artistic positions. Once a month the collection's depots will be placed at artists' disposal four days long. Singly or in groups artists will put their current work on display.

All mediums of the plastic arts, from painting and concept art to video and performance will be featured in this project organised by the collection's curator, Dr Gabriele Bösch. Each >emerging artists< opening will be accompanied by a programme ranging from the group 'Blendwerk', and 'dj scale', to an 'improvised commentary' by Mike Svoboda (trombone) and Karlheinz Essl (electronics). The first show is called >Poor Colour Blue< by the Austrian painter Katrin Plavcak.
