SOLARIS’s Oscar-winning costume designer Milena Canonero envisioned forward-thinking designs, rooted in today’s reality. “I call the style I used in the film ‘minimalist’,” she explains.

“There are certain elements [in the costumes] that are futuristic, but this is not a movie about costumes. I wanted the clothes to be very linear so there are hardly any buttons and the lines are very pure, clean. Some of the fabrics are high-tech, but many fabrics you can easily purchase today, made up of materials that have been around forever, like Egyptian cotton and natural fibers.”
