Re-Listen: 'Dance with me' by Nouvelle Vague (album 'Bande à Part', 2006)
Inspiring dance!
The video on this page, found in October 2010 on the Myspace-site of the French formation 'Nouvelle Vague', fits perfectly to the rhythm of the voice of singer Melanie Pain. 'Dance with Me' is a song from Nouvelle Vague's album 'Bande à Part' (2006). The video shows a famous dancing-scene from Jean-Luc Godard's movie 'Bande à part' (aka 'Band of Outsiders') from 1964 with Anna Karina in the starring role.
Anna Karina was a top-model - Coco Chanel herself gave her advices for the fashion business. She became a successful actress with the 'Nouvelle Vague'-movies of Jean-Luc Godard. The scene inspired Quentin Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction' (1994) dance scene with Uma Thurman and John Travolta.
On Wikipedia, Quentin Tarantino is cited: "Everybody thinks that I wrote this scene just to have John Travolta dancing. ... My favorite musical sequences have always been in Godard, because they just come out of nowhere. It's so infectious, so friendly. And the fact that it's not a musical, but he's stopping the movie to have a musical sequence..." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulp_Fiction_(film)
