Solar Eclipse!
Today at around 9:30, the sun over Austria will be covered by the moon partially up to maximal 63 percent (regional times); and later this day - coincidentally, astronomical spring begins at 23:45.
In Austria, the sun-moon phenomenon is called lovingly 'Sofi' which is an abbreviation of the German word for solar eclipse (Sonnenfinsternis). In other countries, the sun disc will be obscured at higher rates; in United Kingdom for example between 85 to 98% (BBC). On the Faroe Islands and in parts of Norway, the total solar eclipse will happen. One of the big themes is the protection of the eyes. It's not enough to put sunglasses on - there exists a special foil which shall be used.
