Inspired design

Fashionoffice likes design inspired by tradition and sustainability such as seen at the following three examples.

fig. above: 'Christ-Buddha'-silver rings by the Italian jewellery designer Manuel Bozzi. The rings stand for inner peace, fraternity and tolerance; seen in September 2011.

Manuel Bozzi adds to his wish for more peace in the world some thoughts about sustainability and 'slowing down': "I hear talk of pre-collection, collection, capsules, flash! We have all gone mad, it's not true that the public wants 6/8 collections per year, it's crazy."

fig. right: Patrycija Domanska (graduated in industrial design from the Vienna University of Applied Arts) develops an own textile printing tool for the re-creation of traditional fabrics. The photo shows her in front of a dirndl (dress of the Central European Alps) by the Austrian label 'Tostmann Trachten'. Photo: (C) Rüdiger Andorfer.

On occasion of the 'Passionswege' during the Vienna Design Week (30 September - 8 October 2011), Tostmann Trachten - known for handmade tailoring, and Patrycija Domanska will collaborate and combine the 'slow dress' mentality of Tostmann with the serial textile printing tool of Domanska.

fig. below: Award winning designer Karim Rashid (collaborated already with Kenzo, Giorgio Armani, Issey Miyake, and labels like Sony, Alessi...) created for Gorenje the kitchen 'Kira' in three color variations - white, polar-blue and on this page on view in pastel-violet. Kira is made of long-lasting materials and equipped with 'MoodLite'-technology for the creation of individual space-atmospheres in energy-saving light in BabyPink, HotPink, DeepPurple, SkyBlue, LimeGreen, or JuicyOrange.

"I have wanted to design appliances for ages. It was a great exercise in rethinking the banal. Too often we are relegated to tired archetypes. Design is about shaping contemporaneity. Design is critical to our environments, to our daily experiences, our products, our everything." comments Karim Rashid on gorenje.com/karimrashid/.
