Umbrellas against violence and war
...seen at the end of October 2013 on the website marisols.org of New York-based artist Miranda Leigh who collects with the colorful handmade African wax print items money for the safety of women and girls of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The website introduces into a project which is connected to V-Day, a global movement which works for women against violence and for secure living in freedom. 20% of the proceeds of the Marisols will be donated to the V-Day Congo project City of Joy.
The product presentation on the website of Marisol is divided into the colors of the handles. The umbrellas carry motto alike names such as 'There Is Always Love' (category orange) or 'Respect' (category yellow).
