FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fashionoffice has gone Green
Fashionoffice is powered by 100% wind energy
On 18 March 2010, Fashionoffice has received the certificate ‘Green Site’ from the magazine’s US provider Globat. Globat works together with data centers in Boston, Massachusetts (US), which are powered by 100% wind energy.
Vienna (Austria) based editorial magazine Fashionoffice has outsourced the technics for the domains fashionoffice.org, fashion.at, confashion.com, beautyme.com, styleradar.com, beautyradar.com, FashionAvigator.com, cytara.com to the hosting provider Globat who has arrangements with data centers in US, Massachusetts. The US data centers deliver the magazine into all parts of the world powered by 100% wind energy.
“Already in 2007 we had entrusted all our domains with the products of our editorial work, which is for a provider by the end nothing more than data, to Globat in US. Now, we are positively surprised about the innovative management of our US provider to deliver the magazine’s content to computers of people in the whole world with the power of 100% wind energy. Isn’t spring the best season to become more ‘Green’ at Fashionoffice!” smiles Dr. Karin Sawetz, publisher and co-founder of the magazine.
Fashionoffice was founded in 1995 by the siblings (Mag. phil. Dr. rer.nat.) Josef Sawetz and (Mag. Dr. phil.) Karin Sawetz with the "FashionAvigator”-study about fashion online. Fashionoffice started in 1996 with www.fashion.at one of the first fashion magazines exclusively published online. Soon, the magazine has established special channels about fashion, art, beauty and received several prizes such as the ‘Angel of Fashion Award’ in 1996. Today, the users of Fashionoffice come from the United States (40.81%), Germany (8.95%), United Kingdom (5.51%), to name only the first three of an extensive country list. (Source of the data: Quantcast/30 March 2010/Countries/Uniques in %. The magazine’s statistics are published on www.fashionoffice.org/contact.)
“Fashionoffice looks pretty ‘Green’ at the editorial and administrative offices in Vienna too. The electricity comes from one of the top hydropower groups in Europe, Verbund, which is leading among European companies with the highest share of electricity from renewable energies. Additionally, Fashionoffice tries to practise the 'Low Carbon Culture' even in-house by changing common behaviours such as the bad custom to print everything apparently important into saving it first on digital devices and think twice before printing. This has reduced not only the costs for paper and cartridges; we are influencing positively the ozone layer by keeping the air clean at Fashionoffice.”
