15 June 2011 - Insights into the Pitti Uomo in Firenze
The first pictures of the events at the 'Pitti Uomo 80' (international men's wear SS2012 collections) in Florence are online; such as this one from the pre-event 'Next 3Dreams' of the Italian publishing company Mondadori on 13 June, where a 3D fashion show with virtual catwalk presented collections with reference to the sensorial stimuli that inspired them. The Pitti Uomo 80 started officially on 14 June and will run until 17. 'Dress like a Man' is another interesting title of a Pitti Uomo 80 event which explores a new generation of elegant masculinity. ...with owner Sonja Weinstabel, who speaks about the collection of design pieces, music... for the 'w?atf' (what about the future?) pop-up stores, which are popping since 2008. Now, Sonja Weinstabel announces that 'w?atf' pops up again from 28 June to 30 July at the gallery 'Sonnensegel' in the Viennese Freihausviertel (known for its restaurant and bar scene). Additionally to fashion by labels like meshit, Steinwidder, Shakkei, km/a, mija t. rosa, hats by Reinhard Plank, shoes from a prominent Viennese shopping mall, etc., the traveling shop will carry performances, release parties, samples sales, DJ sessions... whatatf.com.
14 June 2011 - Video: 'All for Children'
...is a project by UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) and supported by H&M to get kids out of work and into school. The five-year project was started in November 2009 and supported with a USD 4.5 million donation from H&M. Today, H&M has announced that a special 'All for Children'-collection of kids clothes will be released in October. 25% of all sales from the 'All for Children'-collection will go directly to UNICEF’s projects to promote children's rights to education and protection among vulnerable communities. H&M states: "We believe that children who learn how to read and write are better equipped to make informed choices about their future."

13 June 2011 - Musicians and human relationships: from the Viennese underground-stations (video) to an alp in Vorarlberg
The Austrian electronic-acoustic post-punk group 'Kommando Elefant' with texts and expressions somewhere between humour and tragedy, party and melancholy, explores in its work social relationships between humans. For 30 July, the Kunsthaus Bregenz announces a walking tour to the outdoor-exhibition 'Horizon Field' of the human-sized figures of artist Antony Gormley on the mountains in Vorarlberg. "Kommando Elefant will accompany walkers with music from the mountain station to the Hochalphütte, from there to the figures on the Saloberkopf, then downhill to the Hochtannbergpass and along the Old Salt Route back to Warth (approx. 3 hrs). ..from the 3 tracks 'Scuba' EP (2000, Ninja Tune) and used as soundtrack for the racing game 'Need For Speed'; here you can see a fan video. In 2010, Bonobo and Ninja Tune were nominated in DJ Mag's 'Best Of British' for several awards; one nomination was in the category 'Best Artist Album' for 'Black Sands' (March 2010) which presents relaxed downtempo, poetical - with a sound that opens the room for echoing through space and texts that invite to the meta-level for traveling with soul and spirit... The track 'Scuba' was additionally remixed by another British exceptional musician, the experimental sound designer Amon Tobin who has just released his new psychedelic album 'Isam' on 23 May.
11 June 2011 - Charity bag at the Vienna Fashion Night
...on 15 June. The UNICEF-charity bag for a school project in Africa (building schools in Malawi) is available in the exclusive shops around the catwalk on the 'Graben' - a noble, car-free street in the center of the city. The Graben will be transformed during the Vienna Fashion Night into a party and glamour zone. Designers from Czech, Hungary, Slovakia... and international labels like Jil Sander or Diesel will present new collections. The Austrian designer Thomas Kirchgrabner (head of creation at the Viennese fashion house Liska) will receive the 'Designer of the Year Award'.

'Aguaclara' (Spanish for 'Clear Water'), founded by the siblings Jorge and Liliana Villalobos in 1998. Liliana is the head of creation and transfers her love for Peru into the designs like animal fur styles, accessories made of natural tree stems and shells, and provocative spider web-like knitting. Now, Aguaclara Swimwear has sent the 'Save the Date' for the Fall 2011 presentation on 18 July at the IMG Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami Beach.
10 June 2011 - Fashion Flash Mob 'Beauty of the Sea' by Pierre Garroudi in London
On 8 June, designer Pierre Garroudi has organised his second Fashion Flash Mob in the streets of London. He presented under the title 'Beauty of the Sea' blue and turquoise colored pieces styled up with extraordinary headpieces and make up. "The unpredictable British weather was no competition for Pierre’s models. All models made their way through London with the classic Fulton Birdcage Umbrella in hand," writes the eye-witness from London.

Powerplant Choppers (pimp bikes), speaks about the vintage-motorcycle inspired collection designed for the US label Alpha Industries (founded 1959), which is known for its legendary flight jackets - even seen on Marilyn Monroe. The jackets carry the Powerplant Choppers Hollywood-logo with their signature daily tool - two hammers.
